Dev Release 92

August 8, 2024

Greetings BlockDAG Community,

BlockDAG X1 Application: Patch Update Release & Upcoming Enhancements
We’re excited to announce that a new patch update is being released on TestFlight today! Before making it available to everyone, we've ensured rigorous testing by both internal and external stakeholders to maintain our commitment to quality.
What’s New in This Update?
We’re also thrilled to share that our next big release is planned for the next two weeks. This upcoming release will bring major enhancements to user experience and security, addressing several user concerns and introducing new features.
Based on feedback and observations from user queries, we’ve made several changes to improve the overall experience. Here’s a rundown of what’s included in today’s patch update:

  1. Improved Phone Number Validation API: We've updated the API responsible for validating user phone numbers. Our new third-party integration offers faster and more accurate validations, reducing the likelihood of errors and improving overall efficiency. This change ensures a smoother onboarding process, enhancing both the reliability and speed of number verification.
  2. Design Enhancements and Bug Fixes: We’ve tackled bugs related to spacing and introduced design improvements to refine the look and feel of the app. This includes updates to the design of the FAQs section, a refreshed button style across the application, and a more intuitive settings page. These changes aim to provide a more cohesive and user-friendly interface, making navigation and interactions within the app smoother.
  3. Admin Panel for FAQs and Notifications: We’ve created an admin panel that allows external stakeholders to manage FAQs and notifications in real time. This new feature streamlines processes, enabling faster updates and ensuring that users receive timely and relevant information directly within the app.
  4. Mining Rate Adjustments:
  • The normal mining rate will remain steady at 0.83 BDAG/hour.
  • However, the referral mining rate will now be adjusted to 0.05 BDAG/hour.

The reason for this change is that we are gradually transitioning from Devnet to Testnet, marking the successful near-completion of our Devnet phase. The referral rate adjustment reflects the conclusion of an initial promotional phase as we’ve crossed the milestone of 100,000 users. This shift aligns with our original plan, rewarding early adopters and ensuring sustainable growth as we move forward.

Migration Requirements:

  • Users will need 7,500 BDAG from the presale to be eligible for migration.

This requirement is set to ensure that only those who have committed to the project during its early stages can migrate their coins. If you do not hold the required 7,500 BDAG from the presale at launch, you will not be able to migrate your coins. This measure is designed to maintain the integrity of the migration process and support those who invested in the project's early days. These are the major changes in this patch update. Additionally, as we prepare for the next major release, our team is focused on creating APIs to support password functionality. We're working on five different scenarios to ensure optimized and fast responses.

Blockchain Explorer Updates

In addition to the improvements within the BlockDAG X1 application, our team has been diligently working on enhancing the blockchain explorer, a crucial tool for users to interact with and analyze the BlockDAG network. Here’s what’s coming:

Blocks and Transactions Pages:

  • We are in the process of developing new APIs that will power the blocks and transactions pages of the blockchain explorer. These pages are critical as they provide users with a comprehensive view of the blockchain's activity. The blocks page will offer detailed insights into each block, including the block height, timestamp, number of transactions, and more. The transactions page will allow users to view individual transactions, track their status, and verify their inclusion in the blockchain.

UTXO (Unspent Transaction Output) Flow: One of the key components we're focusing on is the UTXO flow within blocks and transactions. UTXO is a fundamental concept in blockchain, representing the amount of cryptocurrency that has been received by a user but has not yet been spent. In our explorer, users will be able to trace the flow of UTXOs from one transaction to another, gaining a clear understanding of how value moves through the network. This feature will provide a transparent and detailed view of the blockchain's financial activities, making it easier for users to verify transactions and assess the integrity of the network.

    Faucet Page and Chain Switching:
  • We’re introducing a new faucet page as part of the blockchain explorer's UTXO functionality. The faucet will allow users to obtain devnet tokens, which can be used for development and testing purposes. Alongside this, we're adding a chain-switching feature. This will enable users to switch between different blockchain networks (e.g., mainnet, testnet) and also a drop down to switch between EVM and UTXO system via a dropdown menu located in the top-right corner of the application. This feature will make it convenient for developers and users to navigate between networks, facilitating a seamless experience across different environments.

These updates are designed to enhance the overall functionality and usability of the blockchain explorer, providing users with deeper insights and greater control over their interactions with the BlockDAG network. Whether you’re a developer, a blockchain enthusiast, or a regular user, these improvements will offer you a more intuitive and powerful tool to explore the BlockDAG ecosystem.
